Otaku Expo event + Indie comics for Komikon

Previously: Otaku Expo

The event was held last Sept 3-4, 2011 @ SM Megamall. We weren't really planning to attend the event, that is, not until we learned about there will be an indie artists alley. I always check out artist booths during conventions - I think it's something you just shouldn't miss

Though I always wanted to try signing up for it I don't really feel confident about joining. And then less than 2 weeks before Otaku Expo I mentioned it to ~gurachan ...and next thing I remember we've signed up. We're that impulsive sometimes

I had a couple of story ideas then that I wanted to convert to comics but we didn't have enough time for it. We ended up making lots of laminated keychains from chibi fanarts we made during the long weekend and even during the event day. Thanks for the help Steph and Kuya Raph ^^ Did I forget to mention that we were still making keychains in the car on the way to Megamall?

So anyway during the event we met ~MaigretEcho17 and ~monjava of deviantART and it's also their first time to do something like this ^^. It was great to meet both of them though I didn't get to talk to them very long (but ~gurachan did haha.) Hope to see you guys again on the next events

DAY 1

-- We didn't get to check out the other artist booths during day 1 partly because we were late and partly because it's really hard to leave your table once you've settled because of the limited space and I don't want to disturb other artists by potentially shaking their tables  But day 1 was awesome even when we were stuck behind the table

THANKS VERY MUCH to everyone who dropped by to look at and buy our keychains  Also thanks to Alfie for commissioning me (sorry I wasn't the most coherent person on earth that day XD I also owe you some freebie keychains that I didn't get to give you. Hope I can still give them to you some other time ^^)

DAY 2

-- was much quieter and because we had Steph watching our stuffs for us, and I was able to hop around, take pictures, check out the other artist tables, ask for everyone's DA account name, buy something from almost everyone (though it's sad I didn't find ~robins-egg-crayon who is one of the artists I really admire and also ~monjava didn't return for day 2.)

We had some of our original drawings displayed this day and it's great when people check it out and smile. We appreciate everyone who passed by whether to look or buy or take a picture. Once again, thank you all!

By closing time some of the artists gave everyone from the artist tables some freebies from their merchandise (I think this was started by =enjelia.) Thanks you guys  I wish we had something more special to give away because we only have our keychains. I hope people liked them though  Sadly, some artists have already left so we didn't get to give them any keepsake.

Btw I don't remember which day it was but Erza Scarlet (a cosplayer but Erza all the same! XD) stopped by to buy some keychains and Nello and I were fangirling in our tables. Haha.

So all in all we had a blast. Thanks Otakuzine staff for giving us this chance! To ms Ciarra thanks for the patience w/ our inquiries. Next time we'll have more actual drawings on our tables and also some comics ^_^

 Next up: Komikon

Next event we're going to is komikon in November. We've signed up and are a few steps away to finalizing our application. We have to finish the covers on time so we can keep our temporary slot. XD

We'll be busy with two original comics and one fancomics for the next weeks but that's a great and fun way to be busy, right Nello? :)

For those of you who are interested in this event (and I don't know why you shouldn't be) please visit komikon's official website or better yet visit them here: ~komikon

See you whenever!
